OWL IS CURRENTLY HIRING- See below for descriptions of available positions:

  • Administrative Specialist- Engage in complex secretarial, administrative, and public relation functions to ensure the smooth operations of the Outdoor Wilderness Lab; including managing and reporting the budget, developing grant proposals and other fundraising opportunities, and being the overall first point of contact for the public and staff interacting with OWL.   • Kitchen Manager (Chef) Prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner for groups of

       30-50 people. Menu planning according to D51 standards, serving and cleaning

       are required. Monday- Friday during the seasons. Location: Gateway, CO.

  • CustodianMaintenance- Clean and maintain the beautiful campus at

        OWL/ Gateway School's. Monday- Friday. Year -round position.

​​

  • Lead Instructor (year round)The Lead Instructor collaborates daily with

        the Lead Teacher and Administrator of OWL to manage day-to-day operations as well as shape the long-term growth           and vision of OWL. Lead a team of field instructors, teachers, High School OWL Counselors, volunteers, and others in            developing and instructing outstanding outdoor education experiences for youth.

  • Interns- Be a leader! A mentor! A hero! Make a difference in the lives of kids! As an

       OWL intern, you'll teach outdoor education and environmental science to 6th grade

        students at OWL's Gateway facility, while ensuring their health and wellbeing. As an

        integral member of the OWL staff team, you are given real responsibility, gain

        valuable experience, earn D51 credit, college credit, AND a stipend upon completion

        of the internship. Monday- Friday during the seasons.

        Fall season: August - November 2025. Spring season: February - May 2026

  • Nurse- Responsible for providing management of student health and well-being

        while at OWL. Responsible for communicating and coordinating vital health.

        information with school nurses, families, OWL staff and all other pertinent parties

        Manages Student Nursing Interns. Lives in staff housing during OWL seasons. Fall season: August - November                      2025. Spring season: February - May 2026.

  • Nursing Student Interns- Assist the OWL nurse in providing basic first aid and management of student health and well-being.
